Vaya por delante que el universo Tim Burton me gusta, de hecho me gusta bastante, pero creo que esta adaptación de Alicia en el país de las maravillas le ha quedado un tanto descafeinada. Alicia ya no es la niña del cuento, es una jovencita a punto de entrar en la adultez y escapando de su realidad vuelve al sitio que tantas veces había ido sin saberlo…el país de las maravillas. Ahí se encuentra con el conejo que le incita a la aventura, el gato de Cheshire y cómo no con la oruga y el sombrerero loco. En esta adaptación, Alicia tiene un propósito, salvar el submundo donde la reina roja (Helena Bonham Carter, la mejor sin duda) tiene esclavizado al pueblo. Para ello contará con la ayuda sobretodo del sombrerero (Johnny Depp) y de la reina blanca (Anne Hathaway).
Por supuesto, como toda adaptación es lícito que se añadan y se recree la historia original al gusto del creador. De hecho, al ser también seguidora del cuento, supongo que esperaba una película mucho más loca, más surrealista, puesto que es Tim Burton el que manda y que la historia es de por sí una locura! Al final salí con una sensación de que todo se quedaba a medias, de que J.Depp era una mezcla del su personaje en Piratas del Caribe y el de Charlie y la fábrica de chocolate, de que la historia había perdido el toque onírico que se desprende del cuento, eso sí, los paisajes son geniales y los personajes están muy bien caracterizados.
A pesar de todo lo dicho, es una película que entretiene, pero creo que tira demasiado al rollo Disney…esperemos que Burton resurja de nuevo y se reinvente a sí mismo porque lo necesita!
