La reina del hip hop soul nos trae su noveno álbum de estudio. Dos años después de su Growing Pains, este “Stronger With Each Tear” es el significado de estar al día sin perder tu identidad. Y esto queda demostrado en la primera mitad del álbum. Abre con “Tonight” con The Runners y Akon a los mandos, continúa “The One” y su habitual Darkchild en los ritmos y uno de los rappers con más hype del momento (Drake) para pasar a “Said And Done” junto al hiperactivo R Less encargado de la instrumental e incluso en voces adicionales. El segundo cuarto se reúne con Ne Yo y hacen “Good Love” junto a TI y “I Feel Good” mano a mano con los noruegos Stargate. Bien, esta primera mitad del álbum es la que pertenece a Mary J adaptándose al 2009, cerrándola con “I Am” un bonito mediotiempo firmado también junto a Stargate, que nos recuerda que estamos escuchando a Mary J Blige y no a cualquier niña-bonita que sepa bailar y ponerle autotune. La segunda mitad del trabajo empieza con quizá el tema que menos me gusta “Each tear” al que le sigue “I Love you (Yes I Du)” con Pollow Da Don en el ritmo, otro de los temas que tampoco me han llegado mucho. Sin embargo llega “Hood Love” junto a Trey Songz y Brian Michael Cox y se marcan una de esas baladas que las dejas en repeat y las escuchas 10 veces seguidas (Brian M Cox es sin duda uno de los productores que conservan el estilo de los 90 y que a su vez tiene un estilo característico en todos sus temas). Encaramos el final del lp y “Kitchen” manufacturado por Tricky Stewart y The Dream, me sabe a poco después del temón anterior. Pero lo bueno se hace esperar y los dos últimos temas “In The Morning” y “Color” de corte clásico y muy clásico respectivamente, hacen que el disco no se pueda cerrar de mejor forma. Quizá la primera mitad haga que los nostálgicos de los 90 no digieran bien este “Stronger WithEach Tear” pero no cabe duda que Mary J Blige, casi 20 años después de su primer elepé, continua fuerte con cada lágrima.
