El segundo testimonio de India.Arie es fresco y denso por igual. Fresco y variado en gran parte de los ritmos, y denso y contundente en cuanto a intenciones y temáticas. En total 16 cortes en los que nos habla de “Love & Politics”. Y es que la de Denver se retiró a una isla para encontrar la tranquilidad que necesitaba para dar cuerpo al que, según dice, es su mejor álbum hasta la fecha. Discrepamos. No estamos ante un mal álbum pero tampoco ante el nominado a 7 Grammy “Acoustic Soul”, o el “Voyage To India”, ganador de 2. En éste, su cuarto álbum, India se rinde a ritmos actuales en alguna que otra discutible decisión, como el primer single “Therapy”, que nos deja cierto sabor agridulce. Pero luego nos deslumbra con temas como “Chocolate High” junto al maestro Musiq Soulchild o en sus habituales temas intimistas como “He Heals Me” donde se mueve como pez en el agua. Las colaboraciones son realmente interesantes y para nada forzadas: además del mencionado Musiq y del jamaicano Gramps Morgan en los dos primeros singles, entre los featurings encontramos a Dobet Gnahore en “Pearls”, obra de la británica Sade, a Terrell Carter en otro de los grandes temas del álbum, “Yellow”, su próximo single, a la turca Sezen Aksu en “The Cure” y a la recuperada MC Lyte en “Psalms 23”. El resto del disco discurre entre alguna que otra balada algo aburrida, dispares experimentos orientaloides y latinos, y los habituales interludios, outros e intros, quizá prescindibles. El poderío vocal de Ms. Simpson sigue presente pero quizá lo de la isla no fué tan buena idea.
