Con Last.fm es fácil descubrir nueva música relacionada con los artistas y estilos que te gustan: sólo pon un nombre y esta radio online te irá sirviendo temas con un estilo parecido. Si eres un artista o una discográfica, apúntate, carga tus temas, y aprovecha sus millones de oyentes para que te oiga gente a la que le gusta música como la que tú haces. Para usar Spotify tienes que descargar un programa gratuito, una especie de iTunes que te dará acceso a prácticamente todos los discos de todos los artistas. Sus discográficas han llegado a un acuerdo con Spotify para que su trabajo llegue a más gente, así que dile a la tuya que se apunte también porque no puede ser nada malo. También para artistas independientes. Mira también Deezer, Free Napster y Grooveshark para servicios parecidos.

¿Conoces Mininova, el sitio de recopilación de torrents? Es una plataforma perfecta para distribuir y descargar música de forma gratuita, aunque no siempre de forma legal. Algunas discográficas independientes ya se están apuntando a subir algunos de sus lanzamientos para que tengan un alcance más amplio, y en Minova se les ha ocurrido ayudarles a monetizar estas acciones permitiéndoles poner links a sitios donde comprar su merchandising, entradas para sus conciertos y también, porqué no, su disco si alguien quiere pagar por la versión original.
